At Mouchel we know that buildings can inspire and encourage the people using them – and sometimes even have remarkable results like transforming their life prospects. That’s one of the reasons we got involved in delivering the government’s Sure Start programme, in partnership with Bedfordshire County Council.

Sure Start has been set up to deliver the best start in life for every child by bringing together early education, childcare, health and family support. Right now, we’re looking at redeveloping 18 different sites to provide updated children’s centre, pre-school and extended services in disadvantaged areas across the region. It’s an exciting outlook; the current phase II programme totals around £5 million, while phase III works are being planned with budget forecasts in the region of £1 million a year for the next three years.
